INTERNSHIPS

INTERNSHIPS

Safe Haven Equine Warriors (SHEW) welcomes a limited number of interns each year.
Interns are generally, but not limited to, students at the college or high school level (Intern/mentor programs) pursuing careers in veterinary medicine, the horse industry, equine rescue and advocacy.

  • An internship is work in exchange for education. This is not a paid position nor do we currently provide housing.

  • Interns will have a schedule of objectives to accomplish on a timeline based on the overall educational goal. Some independent study may be required.

  • Hours will vary depending on school/work hours, but will include at least 1 weekend day.

  • An intern should expect to commit at least 20 hrs a week for 3 - 6 months.

  • To apply for an internship, a student must have a recommendation letter from a teacher, professor or school counselor, or parent.

Many of our former interns have gone on to careers as veterinarians, riding instructors and trainers, as well as careers in stable management, horse rescue, equine welfare law, animal control and wildlife management.

The work is hard but the rewards are great!

If you'd like to apply for an internship with Safe Haven Equine Warriors please us at Info@safehavenequinewarriors.org to schedule a phone conversation and interview.
